Caving Training- Five Tips To Know

While Taking The Training, Do Not Go Alone

You should never go for caving training alone because it can be a dangerous affair. Even if you are taking every precaution, things can go wrong, and it is never safe to go solo. The national speleological society says that caving training should always be done in groups of 4 or 5. You can even create a group of 2 or 3 people and then go for the training so that in case of an emergency you can get help.

Do Not Push Your Limits

Most of the caves are unforgiving, which is why there can be serious accidents. Especially if you are a beginner, you should take precautions. It is not good to push your limits in surroundings like caves which is why you should know your limits. There is no point in experimenting in an underground, unknown place. If you feel stressed out, do not forget to stop and take a rest. When the training is going on, it is always a good thing to have an experienced trainer beside you.

Have Correct Equipment- Caving Training

It is a sure thing to say, but you do need perfect pieces of equipment. Caves are mostly rocks that are hard and dense. If you do not want to bump your head every time you are training, it is right for you to have a helmet. Also, make sure that you have knee and elbow pads so that you do not injure yourself. Also, carry lights and extra batteries as well as food and beverages. If possible, you can create a checklist from your trainer regarding the things that you would need.

Keep Yourself Warm

Caves are icy places, and as you go down, you will be able to feel the temperature decreasing. If you are not warm enough, you can be a recipient of hypothermia. Always wear something warm and layer yourself up. Also, there can be numerous water bodies inside the Caves, and the water can be freezing. Make sure that you are not sleeping in the water for a very long period. If you are going inside a cave with small streams, ensure that you know about the weather.
