Your Incredible and Scenic Vista Tours in Candia Decks

crystal cave wi

If you are there with your family or friends, then you would have an experience to record for the rest of your life. It is one of the few places where you can view rock formations from a safe distance, which is an added advantage. The crystal cave was found by local brothers William and George Vanasse in 18 Kozonia Road, close to the town of Spring Valley in Pierce County, Wisconsin.

Beautiful Place

Fireworks in the sky

Crystal Cave is actually a multi-level access point to a very deep drop-off into Lake Wisconsin. The actual drop off is over fifty feet deep, so you need to bring along some equipment in order to check it out. You can have a look at the crystal formations while you are standing on the ledge. However, you will need to be very careful when climbing down because there are huge icicles that can be very dangerous if you don’t know what you are doing. When you go down, you have to make sure that you do not fall into the water because this is what will happen if you are not cautious enough.

Perfect For Trekking

A close up of a rock

As you walk into the cave, you will see two rickety covered passages where wooden beams used to support the ceiling are being lowered. At one end of the cave, you will find a huge rock formation called the eighty foot high Star, and it has become a tourist attraction. The actual formation is made up of millions of tiny crystal rocks. The actual Star was formed when water filled the cave and created a massive rock structure.

Filled With Enjoyment

To get to the Star you will have to walk a long path that starts off with steps that lead to the ceiling. On the way up you will cross a bridge which has steps leading to the next floor. Another bridge called the suspension bridge will take you to another floor where you can enjoy another view. From here you will have to walk around a little bit and take another left turn. At this point there is another path where you will walk to the very end of the cave and experience the crystal clear waters of Waiheke Bay. After you have reached the end, you will have to descend a rocky path to the access point for the Star.

It is very easy to navigate the tour because there are several well-maintained paths that you can follow. You will be able to view many different types of marine life through the crystal clear waters. In fact, you might even see a humpback whale swimming by! The tour is guided by professionals who know exactly where everything is located so you will not be lost.

Intimidating Experience

Once you reach the access point for the Star, you will be walking through an open cave with the walls made of numerous rock shelves and ledges. There are several platforms and ledges to walk on and several large pillars and stairways that you will need to take. However, there is no real climbing involved because you can simply walk in a straight line. If you do not want to climb anything or if you have never explored the caves, this could be a very intimidating experience.

Open Air Spaces

As you proceed through the cave, you will be able to see a formation known as the Spire. This formation is actually the base of a great mountain range that rises far into the future. Some people believe that the Spire was created by the earth swallowing the whale as it swam through the sea. You may also hear sounds of running water and small animal sounds. It is possible that there is a path along the ceiling of the cave that will lead you to another area where you can walk through a rock formation known as the Butterer’s Chasm. However, you could simply follow any of the main trails that will lead you through beautiful open air spaces until you reach the entrance to the Star.

Wrapping Up

Once you are through the Star, you will be able to explore the other parts of the crystal cave that will lead you to all of its different rooms and areas. The Crystal Cave will give you hours of enjoyment since it is such a huge area with many different things to see and do. You will be able to sit and relax and enjoy nature while being taken on a unique and fascinating tour through time. This tour is available in two separate tours, Day and Night, and you can choose to go at either one or the other.
